One dead in vehicle-train accident

According to Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred about 2:30 p.m. at the railroad crossing at County Roads 820 and 843, two miles north of Matthews. Susan Beardsley, 63, of Sikeston, was traveling westbound on County Road 820 and failed to yield to the southbound Burlington Northern train, driven by Larry Montgomery, 61, of Kelso. The vehicle was struck by the train after traveling into its path.
