The 90 members of the Sikeston High School Marching Band have practiced many hours for their home-opener performance tonight during the Sikeston-Gateway Tech football game. Flag squad member Keyonna Blissett rehearses with the band as they perform the theme song from "Mission Impossible." The band, under the direction of Darren Steelman, has created a new program called "Spy Zone" featuring music from "Mission Impossible," "Peter Gunn," James Bond and Harlem Nocturne. Steelman said the band is looking and sounding better than ever. In addition to entertaining during the halftime of home football games, the marching band will take part in competitions at Farmington, Metropolis, Ill., and Charleston; be featured in the Sikeston Cotton Carnival Parade; and host a non-competition marching exhibition on Oct. 4 at the High School.
