PARK HILLS -- After a sluggish start the Dexter Bearcats caught fire in the second and third quarters Friday night and held on to defeat Park Hills Central 37-27.
In a rematch of last season's Class 3 sectional game, Dexter scored 37 unanswered points in the second and third quarter, using a strong passing game to scorch the Rebel defense. Senior quarterback Cody Stevens tossed four touchdown passes, including three to fellow senior Tyler Miller, as Dexter took a 37-7 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Park Hills Central (1-1) wouldn't quit, however, scoring three touchdowns in the final quarter, but Dexter (2-0) held on to get the win.
Dexter's Josh Overall led all rushers in the game with 96 yards on 13 carries while Stevens threw for 132 yards on 12-of-30 passing with one interception. Stevens also ran for 64 yards on 10 carries. Miller caught seven passes for 78 yards and Chase Young had three catches for 30 yards.

GRANDVIEW -- The East Prairie Eagles overcame a 14-7 deficit after the first quarter to defeat Grandview 29-14 on the road Friday night.
East Prairie scored 12 points in the second quarter to take a 19-14 lead into halftime and then added 10 second half points to earn their first win of the season.
CARUTHERSVILLE -- The Caruthersville Tigers ground attack proved to be too much for the Kennett Indians Friday night.
State-ranked Caruthersville calculated 538 yards of total offense, including 403 yards rushing on its way to 47-7 home win over Kennett.
Caruthersville tallied the first 12 points contest on two rushing touchdowns by Elbie Fonda to take a 13-0 lead with 5:25 remaining in the first quarter. Fonda finished the night with 14 carries for 242 yards rushing and scored four touchdowns.
Kennett tallied its only points of the contest on a 69-yard touchdown drive to cut the Tigers' lead to 13-7 with 9:36 remaining in the second quarter. The drive was highlighted by a 29-yard touchdown pass by Kennett's Adam Grantham to wide receiver Antavies Drake.
Caruthersville managed to tack on 21 additional points before halftime on a 57-yard touchdown pass by Tyler Grissom to Darrell Monroe, a 19-yard rushing touchdown by Fonda and a 51-yard rushing touchdown by Fonda.
Caruthersville added 13 additional points in the third quarter on two touchdowns and neither team scored in the fourth as the Tigers secured a 40-point win.
