SHS volleyball falls to Saxony Lutheran

JACKSON -- Playing the Saxony Lutheran Lady Crusaders on Wednesday, the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs fell in straight sets 25-19, 25-18.

Leading Sikeston's effort, Asia Liggins had five kills, two blocks and an ace with Trenice Greer contributed three kills, two blocks and an ace. Darqueshionna Howard and Keyonna Blissett had four and two kills respectively with Howard also collecting an ace.

Jalen Peet had a block and Ricki Tidwell had an ace.

Sikeston coach Steve Beydler said that errors were the main problem in Wednesday's game, including eight service errors and 16 serve-receive errors.

On the junior varsity side, the Lady Bulldogs took the Lady Crusaders to three sets before falling 25-27, 25-23, 25-16. In both the first two sets, Sikeston was down by five points, battling back for a win in the first set and coming close in the second.

With the varsity squad now at 0-2 on the season, the Lady Bulldogs will participate in the SEMO Spike Tournament starting on Friday.
