CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs volleyball team got off to a good start in the 24th Annual SEMO Spike Volleyball Classic on Friday, winning two matches in pool play.
Sikeston defeated Southern Reynolds in their first match 25-18, 25-13 before avenging a Wednesday night loss to Saxony Lutheran 25-13, 25-23.
Scott City also won their first two matches in the Classic, defeating Saxony Lutheran 25-6, 25-11 and New Haven 25-11, 25-20.
Portageville won three of four sets to open up the Classic, splitting with Kennett 20-25, 25-20 and sweeping Oran 25-19, 25-19. Oran also fell to Bernie 25-15, 25-13.
Dexter lost their opening match to Notre Dame 25-17, 25-17 before dismantling Calvary Lutheran 25-8, 25-3.
New Madrid County Central fell to Perryville 25-15, 25-17 and split with Oak Ridge 25-21, 23-25.
Richland lost their opener to Bell City 25-10, 25-8 before defeating Caruthersville 25-13, 25-16.

CHAFFEE -- The Scott City Lady Rams softball team made short work of Greenville in the Chaffee Tournament on Friday, 16-1.
Scott City scored three runs in the first before breaking the game open with nine runs in the second inning and adding four more in the third.
Brittany Kiefer was 2 for 3 with two doubles and six runs batted in for Scott City. Lyndsey Rendleman was 2 for 3 and Shelby Rhymer was 2 for 2 for the Lady Rams.
