CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs volleyball team finished as the consolation runner-up in the silver bracket during the 2011 SEMO Spike Silver bracket over the weekend.
After falling out of the winner's bracket on Friday, the Lady Bulldogs bounced back with wins over Twin Rivers and St. Elizabeth before losing to Park Hills Central in three sets during the consolation championship.
Sikeston defeated New Haven, 25-18 and 25-19 during pool play to set up their bracket run.
New Madrid County Central won the Bronze bracket after defeating Senath-Hornersville, Holcomb, Southern Reynolds and Cooter in two sets during the championship game.
Portageville made it to the semifinals while Richland advanced to the quarterfinals and Oran fell in the opener.
The Dexter Lady Bearcats fell out of the Gold bracket in round two losing to Lesterville in three sets. They lost their pool play game on Saturday to Meadow Heights 25-20 and 25-24.
After advancing to the Gold bracket, they defeated Lebanon in three sets (25-22, 19-25, 25-20) which set up their match with Lesterville.
Lesterville served 18-straight times to open the game, putting Dexter in a big hole early. They eventually lost the first set 25-14, but came back to battle Lesterville in two close sets later on.
The Lady Bearcats won the second set 26-24 but lost the third 24-26.
