CHAFFEE -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs finished this past weekend's Lady Devil Classic with a 2-1 record.
Opening up the tournament on Friday, Sikeston defeated Neelyville 7-3 thanks in part to three run rallies in the first and sixth innings.
Madison Chaney, Sarah Dixon, Maggie Shepherd, Sydney King and Bayleah James each had two hits in the contest.
On Saturday morning, the Lady Bulldogs were then edged out 12-11 by the Scott City Lady Rams in extra innings.
Trailing 11-10, Sikeston scored a run to tie things up in the top of the sixth before holding Scott City scoreless in their next two at bats to force extra innings.
Unfortunately for the Lady Bulldogs, a Lady Rams' run in the bottom of the eighth sealed the game.
Annie Ramey, Dixon, King and Chaney had three hits each, including a double by Dixon. Kayla Fodge, Lauren Graham, Kirsten Baker and James had a hit each.
Later on Saturday, to wrap up tournament play, Sikeston ran away from Saxony Lutheran for an 18-5 mercy-rule win.
Ahead 6-3 after three innings, the Lady Bulldogs rallied for seven runs in the fourth and five runs in the fifth to seal the win.
Chaney was a perfect 5 for 5 on the game while Dixon and James had three hits each. Annie Ramey and King had two hits each. Chaney finished the Lady Devil Classic with a team-high 10 hits.
Sikeston now stands at 5-8 on the season.
ST. LOUIS (SMNS) -- Scott City senior Brandon Shemonia raced to a fifth-place finish in the varsity green race at Saturday's Forest Park Cross Country Festival in St. Louis.
Shemonia crossed the line in 15 minutes, 26.30 seconds.
