SIKESTON -- Ward 3 residents living near the center of Sikeston may soon get a new voter identification card.

An emergency bill redistricting the city's wards based on 2010 Census results was approved after first and second readings during the regular Sikeston City Council meeting Monday.

The redistricting was approved as an emergency bill to allow time for public information to be distributed prior to candidates filing to run for the City Council in mid-October, according to City Manager Doug Friend.
