CAPE CENTRAL -- For only the second time in school history and for the first time since 1998, the Sikeston Bulldogs soccer team took down the Cape Central Tigers, winning by a 3-2 final.

"We played good defense and we took chances," Sikeston coach Doyle Noe said.

Taking control early, the Bulldogs got a goal from Zach Harrison just a minute in to the game with Tyler Neal getting the assist.

At the 27 minute minute mark, Josh Bill scored on a pass from Trey Tigart before coming back at the 55 minute mark and scoring on a pass from Neal to put Sikeston up 3-0.

The Tigers broke up the shutout with a goal soon after before closing to within one at 3-2 when they connected on a penalty kick from inside the box 70 minutes into the contest.

On the junior varsity side, Sikeston found similar success, shutting out Cape Central 5-0.

Audi Hay led the way for Bulldogs with a goal and three assists while Layton Jones, Kaleb Newton, Caleb Hampton and Hunter Taylor added a goal each.

With the varsity now at 5-3 on the season, the Bulldogs will travel to Poplar Bluff to play the Mules today at 4:30 p.m.
