SIKESTON -- Declining expenditures last school year have resulted in a lower annual tuition rate for the Sikeston R-6 School District this year.
During Tuesday's regular Board of Education meeting, members approved a $574-decrease in the district's annual tuition rate for the 2011-2012 school year. The new rate is $6,446, which is calculated by a state department formula and based on the prior school year's expenditures, according to Lori Boardman, R-6 director of business services.
"The decrease is the result of an overall reduction of educational expenditures of approximately $3.4 million from the 2009-2010 to the 2010-2011 school year," Boardman said.
