Participants in the Missouri Bootheel Regional Consortium's Missouri Bootheel Healthy Start program released 366 balloons Thursday as part of its participation in the national Infant Mortality Awareness Campaign. The balloons represent an important milestone in a baby's life: making it past the first year. Holding the banner surrounded by program participants are Cynthia Dean, MBRC's chief executive officer, left, and Ashley Cobb, outreach educator for MRBC. Missouri Bootheel Healthy Start is one of 102 Healthy Start projects nationwide.
