Sikeston netters fall to Kennett

KENNETT -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs tennis team lost 8-1 to Kennett on Thursday with their only victory coming from Kelsey Dial.

Dial defeated Anna Hilburn 8-1. With the victory, Dial solidified her chances at a higher seed in the individual district drawing.

Kennett ended up being seeded as the No. 1 school in the team district play.

"They showed why they deserved the No. 1 seed," Sikeston coach Russ Dial said. "They beat us soundly. However, there was one positive we can take from this match and that was the play of Kelsey Dial."

Sikeston travels to Fredericktown on Monday for the first round of the team district tournament.

SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Lady Rams won three-straight sets against the visiting Bell City Lady Cubs on Thursday night.

The Lady Rams won the first set 25-11, the second 25-14 and the third 25-17.

Leopold 2, Oran 0

LEOPOLD -- The Oran Lady Eagles lost on the road on Thursday to the Leopold Lady Wildcats in two sets.

Leopold won 25-16 and 25-8.
