New Madrid man receives five year prison sentence

CAPE GIRARDEAU - A New Madrid, Missouri man was sentenced on drug and gun charges in federal court.

Tommie Williams, 56, was sentenced to 60 months on one felony count of being previously convicted felon in possession of a firearm and one felony count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine base.

On Aug. 23, 2010, state law enforcement officers served a search warrant at Williams' residence located on Mott Street in New Madrid. During the search of Williams' bedroom, the officers found five firearms and 2.55 grams of cocaine base packaged in four plastic bags, each containing five small rocks of cocaine base. With his plea, Williams acknowledged that he possessed the cocaine for the purpose of selling it to others.
