SIKESTON -- A spokesman for one of Sikeston's top employers said layoffs are just a seasonal occurrence.
Unilever's Good Humor-Breyers plant in Sikeston has laid off employees over the last couple of weeks.
Dean Mastrojohn, Unilever's corporate media relations manager for North America, said the following statement is all the information his company is willing to provide at this time:
"Our decision is due to the seasonality of the ice cream business, specifically, a seasonal drop in demand due to the end of the summer season. It in no way reflects the dedication or performance of our Sikeston employees."
