SIKESTON -- Shannen E. Ledbetter, 81, died Nov. 12, 2011, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Feb. 11, 1930, in Pulaski, Ill., daughter of the late Fred and Marie Denfip Miller, she attended Trinity Baptist Church and had worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 33 years as an operator and a clerk before retiring.
On Sept. 10, 1949, she married Alfred Benton "Sarge" Ledbetter who preceded her in death May 26, 1997.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Glenn Miller, one sister, Wanda Scapino Martin, and one brother-in-law, Eugene Ledbetter.
Survivors include: one daughter, Glenda Ledbetter of Farmington; four sisters, Lucille Mayberry of Tamms, Ill., Leota Riddle of Sikeston, Rita Vines of Pulaski and Betty Parker of Villa Ridge, Ill.; two sisters-in-law, Stella Britt of Lansing, Mich., and Mary Jane Thornton of Mounds, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Ponder Funeral Home where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Stacy Britt of Michigan, a nephew of Mrs. Ledbetter, will officiate and the Rev. William Marshall, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, will be assisting.
Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Pulaski.
