CHAFFEE -- Ervin L. Compas, 88, died Nov. 15, 2011, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born June 7, 1923, in Kelso, son of the late Benjamin G. and Sophie Scherer Compas, he owned and operated Compas Mobil Service Station in Chaffee and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, St. Ambrose Men's Club, Chaffee American Legion Post No. 389 and Chaffee VFW Post No. 3167.
On June 20, 1953, he married Margaret Westrich who preceded him in death on Jan. 1, 2010.
He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mike and Pamela Compas and Bill Compas of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Arnold Compas of South Bend, Ind.; a sister, Lorena Himmelsbach of Tennessee; and two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.
Visitation is scheduled after 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. Parish prayers will be recited at 6:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop serving as celebrant.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
