SIKESTON -- Walter Leo Wise, 86, died at 12:30 a.m. Nov. 15, 2011, at the Sikeston Convalescent Center.
Born March 13, 1925, at Clarksville, Ark., to the late Walter D. and Elva B. Rhett Wise, he had been employed as a maintenance worker with Eagle Signal Co. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Feb. 18, 1947, at Salcedo, he married Elva B. Rhett who preceded him in death on Oct. 5, 1975. On May 22, 1976, in Bettendorf, Iowa, he married Helen Sue Cox Collier who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three daughters and two sons-in-law, Charlotte Wise of Logansport, Ind., Marlene and Rick Lopez of Dallas and Carol and Danny Marshall of Knoxville, Tenn.; one sister, Betty Smith of Bettendorf; and seven grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Dewayne Maynard, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston, will officiate assisted by The Rev. Steve Bilsland, associate pastor of Calvary Assembly Church in Dunwoody, Ga., and Dan Richardson, minister of the Vanduser Church of Christ.
Burial with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston.
Pallbearers will be: Rick Green, Jerry Herring, Karl Klimmeck, Gino Lopez, Scott Nichols and Ronnie Nichols.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Bob Hinton, Bill Gepford, Paul Gillean and Matt Richardson.
