Defendant is found not guilty in death of local man

CHARLESTON -- A Mississippi County jury found a man guilty of robbery, burglary and armed criminal action but ruled there was not sufficient evidence to for a murder conviction.

In a three-day trial, conducted in Mississippi County on a change of venue from Scott County, Maurice Robinson was found guilty for a Dec. 7, 2008, home invasion which resulted in the death of Linnie Lee Andrews. Andrews died on Dec. 25, 2008, from injuries received prompting the prosecution to charge Robinson with murder in addition to the other charges.
