NEW HAMBURG -- Paul J. Kiefer, 88, died Nov. 22, 2011, at the Chateau Girardeau Retirement Community in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 1, 1923, in Oran, to the late Theodore and Berdina Eftink Kiefer, he was a self-employed farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg, St. Joseph Sodality and Knights of Columbus Council No. 4311.
On Oct. 30, 1951, he married Mildred P. Felter who preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 2007.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tom Kiefer of Cape Girardeau and Pat and Jan Kiefer of New Hamburg; four sisters, Jane Ann Kiefer of Cape Girardeau, Helen Kiefer of St. Louis, Rita Hinkebein of Maryland Heights and Ethel Massman of High Ridge; and two granddaughters, Brittany Kiefer and Michaela Kiefer of New Hamburg.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m., today at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with Tom Kiefer serving as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.
