FARMINGTON -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats fell behind by 11 points to start the Farmington Invitational championship game on Saturday and could never recover, falling to Miller Career Academy 50-33 on Saturday.
"It's tough getting down 11-0," Dexter coach Chad Allen said.
Alison Jarrell led Dexter (2-1) with nine points on a trio of 3s while Katelynn Frazier added six points. The Lady Bearcats trailed 15-2 after one quarter.
Miller Career was led by 6-foot senior Shanity James, who scored 16 points, and Abrelyn Rackley's 15.
The Phoenix and Lady Bearcats both hope to meet again in March.
"Miller played a lot more physical and a lot more aggressive," Allen said. "That's one area in our game we've got to get better at."
Dexter made the championship game after defeating Poplar Bluff 48-37 on Friday night.
The inside game of the Lady Bearcats was too much for Poplar Bluff as post players Brittany Harris and Paige Patterson led Dexter with 14 and 12 points respectively.
"Overall I thought our post players did extremely well," Allen said. "With (Marissa) Webb out, that hurts them quite a bit inside. We definitely took advantage of that.
"When she's healthy I'm sure they're going to be a lot better."
Dexter led 19-7 after one quarter and by five at halftime but Harris scored six points in the third, nearly outscoring the Lady Mules.
Katelynn Frazier added nine points for Dexter which was 8 of 14 from the charity stripe.
Dexter (2-1) will host Senath-Hornersville tonight at 6 p.m.
