Dexter girls roll in home opener; SHS freshmen win

DEXTER -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats had little trouble in their home opener on Monday, thumping Senath-Hornersville 78-23.

Dexter led 30-7 after one quarter and held a comfortable 54-12 lead at the half.

Dexter put three players in double figures, led by Alison Jarrell's 21 points. Brittany Harris added 13 while Paige Patterson scored 10.

Dexter (3-1) will host Jackson tonight at the Bearcat Event Center.

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Sikeston Bulldogs freshman basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to knock off Cape Central on the road 53-51 on Monday night.

Sikeston trailed 16-10 after a quarter and 30-27 at the half to come back and claim the two-point win, improving their record to 2-1.

Corbyn Blissett and Zach Jackson each scored 16 points apiece to pace the Bulldogs.
