PORTAGEVILLE -- Richard "Trader Dick" Drerup, 85, died Dec. 7, 2011, at Portageville.
Born May 6, 1926, in Portageville, to the late Arthur and Carlotta C. Recker Drerup, he was the owner/operator of Dick's TV Furniture and Appliance Co. and was a member of the Portageville Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce and St. Eustachius Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force, serving during World War II.
On Aug. 31, 1955, in Portageville, he married Betty Lou Bond who preceded him in death on April 14, 2011.
Survivors include: five sons and four daughters-in-law, R. Dennis and Debbie Drerup of Jackson, David M. Drerup of Portageville, Dexter J. and Cindy Drerup of Blue Springs, Dean M. and Martha Drerup of Jackson and P. Duane and Lanna Drerup of Birds Corner; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Lynn and Jim Murry of Gauthier, Miss.; two sisters, Dorothy Summers of Cape Girardeau and Diane Ground of Fredricksburg, Texas; one brother, Donald J. Drerup of Fort Worth, Texas; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled at 5 p.m., with parish prayers at 5:30 p.m., Sunday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Eustachius Catholic Church with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
