MATTHEWS -- George Marcus "Jim" Sutton, 80, died Dec. 8, 2011, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Dec. 24, 1930, in Matthews, son of the late Clarence Cecil and Lorene Grace Reed Sutton, he lived at Matthews his entire life, was a member of Matthews Missionary Baptist Church and had been a farmer before retiring.
On May 14, 1949, at Matthews, he married Margaret Sue Cloys who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Marcus Hammond Sutton of Matthews and Earnest Thomas Sutton of Morehouse; three daughters, Margie Lorene Maddox and Mary Elizabeth Pearson of Sikeston and Pamela Joan Hurd of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; and eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Lyla Mae and Cecil Beeson, and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday. Dan Wisely, pastor of Kewanee Missionary Baptist Church, and Chris Polk, pastor of Matthews Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
