PUXICO -- Russell Ramsey, 65, died Dec. 10, 2011, at his farm.
Born Oct. 25, 1946, in Marble Hill, son of the late Lloyd and Alveda Baker Russell Ramsey, he had been a resident of Puxico for 40 years.
He attended the Woodland High School in Marble Hill and was a graduate of the University of Missouri where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and completed his master's and specialist degrees in education. He taught vocational agriculture and was the advisor for the Fredericktown, Puxico and Dexter FFA chapters. After he retired from education, he was employed by the University of Missouri Extension in Ellington where he served as an agribusiness specialist. He most recently worked with the Missouri AgriAbility Project. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He attended the Puxico First General Baptist Church and had served on the Puxico School Board.
On Jan. 26, 1969, in Marble Hill, he married to Wanda Barks who survives of Puxico.
Other survivors are: one son, Tyler Ramsey of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter Regina Stephens of Puxico; one sister, Elizabeth Gable of Oak Ridge; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Lloyd "Wesley" Ramsey, and his grandparents who raised him, Lloyd and Alveda Ramsey.
Visitation will be held after 5 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First General Baptist Church in Puxico with the Rev. Kenneth Lambert of Bloomfield officiating.
Burial will be in the Bollinger Memorial Cemetery in Marble Hill with military honors.
