EAST PRAIRIE -- Larry "Gator" Morgan, 72, died at 5:16 a.m. Dec. 10, 2011, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 17, 1939, in East Prairie, to the late Thomas Jefferson and Lucy Alma Powers Morgan, he lived his entire life in East Prairie where he worked for Pope Motors as a car detailer and was a member of the St. James General Baptist Church.
On June 12, 1968, at East Prairie, he married Pearl Ruth Bryan who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas J. Morgan and Teresa Woods and Larry Joe and Mary Morgan of East Prairie and Louis Allen and Kim Bryan of Blodgett; one daughter, Connie Morgan of East Prairie; one brother, Jack Morgan of East Prairie; two sisters, Shirley Morgan Jeude of St. Louis and Iva Morgan Hatton of Belleville, Ill.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by eight brothers, Bill Morgan, F.E. "Nub" Morgan, Howard Morgan, Gene Morgan, Bud Morgan, Carl Morgan, Marvin Morgan and Junior Morgan.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Sunday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday with David Dowdy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Morgan, Billy Myers, Raymond Myers, Terry Taylor, Todd Woods and Anthony Matthews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lewis, Chuck Hayden and Brooks Griggs.
