SIKESTON -- Lisa Dawn Coatney, age 43, died Dec. 20, 2011, at her home in Sikeston.
She was born June 2, 1968, in Sikeston, the daughter of Louise Whittley Coatney of Sikeston and the late Raymond Coatney. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. She graduated with a degree in criminal justice from UNLV and obtained her Jurist Doctorate from Southwestern Los Angeles, Calif. She worked for the District Attorney Office in Las Vegas, was assistant prosecutor for Scott County, Mo.; prosecutor for 16 districts in Marin County near Jefferson City and also did pro bono work for needy clients.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by: one son, Grayson Seth Coatney of the home; one daughter, Tara Katarina Coatney of the home; two brothers, Raymond Scott Coatney of Nashville and Mark Shawn Coatney of Sikeston; one niece, Lynley Reece Coatney of Sikeston; and one nephew, Connor Shawn Coatney of Sikeston.
In addition to her father, she was preceded by her maternal grandparents, Jesse E. and Glenda Violet Whittley, and her paternal grandparents, James Wayne and Lola Mae Landers Coatney.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Glenn Eftink of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church will officiate.
Interment services with full military honors will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 24, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Pallbearers will be: Mark Coatney, Bo Ozment, Jeremey Suver, Josh Nelson, Tom Coatney and Bob Crowley.
