KEWANEE -- Alene Jimerson passed away Dec. 23, 2011, at her home in Kewanee of a long-term illness at the age of 81.
She was born Dec. 11, 1930, in New Madrid County, to the late Jerome and Catherine Dolan Maddox. She worked as a healthcare worker until her retirement and was a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church.
On Nov. 15, 1947, she married L.C. Jimerson, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1991.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Gale; five brothers, Edward Maddox, Jerome Maddox Jr., James Maddox, Johnnie Maddox and Thomas Maddox; and two sisters, Amelia Maddox and Kathleen Rodriguez.
Survivors include: two daughters, Brenda Jimerson of Kewanee and Linda Jackson of New Madrid; four sisters, Clarra Anne Cash, Teresa Presnell, Nola Reid and Virginia Watkins; four grandchildren, William Irby, Barbie Glidewell, Hank Jackson II and Wendy Jackson; and six great-grandsons.
Services will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the New Madrid Baptist Church in New Madrid with the Rev. Cary Weaver officiating.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
Pallbearers will be: Lloyd Jackson, Johnny Jackson, Rocky Houston, Ricky Houston, Dewey Jones and Steve Jones.
Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid is in charge of arrangements.
