SIKESTON -- Mary Ellen Turner, 53, died Jan. 1, 2012, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born April 15, 1958, in Dunedin, Fla., to the late Willie Gordan and Nora Bell Varnadore Griner, she was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Sikeston and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary No. 114 of Sikeston.
On Aug. 8, 1992, in Sikeston, she married Michael A. Turner, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Tommy Swann Jr. of Sikeston; three daughters, Shawna Hunsperger of Sikeston, Katina Cooksey of Stantonville, Tenn., and Connie Swann of Sikeston; four brothers, Gene Griner of the state of Oklahoma and Lester Griner, Paul Griner and Jerry Griner of the state of Georgia; six sisters, Anne Bennett of the state of Florida, Willie Mae Griner and Nova Little of Georgia, Mollie Sellers of the state of North Carolina, Nancy Snead of the state of Virginia and Eve Kizziah of the state of Kansas; and seven grandchildren and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Susie Fuqua and Gladys Ludwig.
Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with the Rev. John Tarter, pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
