JACKSON -- Barbara J. Nolen, 61, formerly of Mississippi County, died Jan. 1, 2012, at the St. Francis Medical Center.

Born June 15, 1950, in Texas County, Mo., near Houston, to Wanda Evelyn Pemberton Brooks Salyer of Anniston and the late Bill Brooks, she had lived in Jackson for the past 20 years.

In 2009, she retired from the Walmart in Perryville after over 20 years of service. She was a member of the Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

On Feb. 1, 1969, she married Conley E. Nolen who survives of the home.

In addition to her husband and mother, survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian and Lisa Nolen and William Nolen of Jackson; one daughter, Rebecca Rollet of St. Mary's; two brothers, John M. Brooks of Lincoln, Neb., and Bill Salyer of East Prairie; one sister, Judy Stokes of Sikeston; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Billie Wayne Salyer.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with David Pringle officiating.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
