Bobby Harper
SIKESTON -- An East Prairie man was arrested after attempting to entice a 12-year-old girl to get in his vehicle.

Bobby D. Harper, 61, was arraigned Wednesday before Scott County Judge Scott T. Horman on the felony charge of enticement of a child.

Currently being held in the Scott County Jail, Harper's bond is set at $100,000 and he is ordered to have no contact with minor children.

According to Lt. Jim McMillen of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, the incident began at about 6:15 p.m. Friday when the child was walking to a relative's house on Olive Street.

"The child said the man asked if he could give her a ride and she told him no," said McMillen. "According to the child the man drove around the block and contacted her a second time. This time she said he told her he would give her some money just for getting into his truck."

When officers made contact with the man, they "discovered his pants were unzipped," according to McMillen.
