Risco tops Leopold to remain unbeaten

RISCO -- The Risco Tigers put five players in double figures and improved to 9-0 with a 86-71 win over Leopold on Friday night.

Playing their first game in three weeks, Risco jumped out to a 17-14 lead and led 38-30 at halftime eventually putting the game away in the second half.

"It was good to get back playing," said Risco coach Brandon Blankenship. "It was our home opener and we had a great crowd that really got us going. We played well. Leopold is a tough team."

Chris Pavy led Risco with 27 points while Luke Bixler added 16. Jordon Pavy had 16 points off the bench while Austin White and Jeremy Fowler had 12 and 10 points respectively.

"Chris Pavy really came up big for us tonight and Jordon Pavy played well off the bench. It was good to get him going."

Jordon Pavy also helped lead the junior varsity Tigers to a 62-61 thrilling win, scoring 16 points in just two quarters. Justin Earnheart also added 16 for the Tigers.

Risco will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Clarkton for a Tri-County Conference game.

Scott City 66, Chaffee 54

CHAFFEE -- The Scott City Rams overcame a slow start and defeated rival Chaffee 66-54 for a road win on Friday.

Scott City trailed 9-6 after one quarter but responded to take a 24-18 lead at halftime and continued to stretch the lead in the second half.

"It was a good win," said Scott City coach Mark Dannenmueller. "It was a tough environment and I'm proud of the way we played."

Landon Robert led Scott City (9-4) with 18 points while Zach Cotner had 14 and Ryan Brock 12.

Alex Crowe led Chaffee (7-3) with 19 points while Peyton Montgomery added 12.

MARBLE HILL -- The Dexter Bearcats stopped a three-game losing streak with a 78-55 win over Woodland on Friday.

Dexter led 14-9 after the first quarter and exploded in the second to take a 38-19 lead into halftime.

Tyler Miller led Dexter (4-9) with 21 points while Cody Neldon chipped in 17. Chase Young and Jake Lee both had 12 for the Bearcats.
