IDALIA -- Sammy Lee Pruitt, 71, died Jan. 8, 2012, at his home.
Born Oct. 23, 1940, in Idalia, to the late Everett Dennis and Myrtle Pruitt, he lived in Idalia all of his life. He had worked as a machinist at Arvin Automotive in Dexter and was a member of Masonic Lodge 152 in Bloomfield and the Sikeston American Legion. He was of the Baptist belief.
On Dec. 21, 1973, at Benton, he married Betty Jean Roach who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Clay Pruitt of Idalia; three daughters, Jeanie Pruitt, Dana Relli and Amanda McWilson of Jackson; two stepsons, Randy Spencer of the state of Florida and Ricky Kelley of Cape Girardeau; one stepdaughter, Donna Gregory of Idalia; one brother, Bobby Pruitt of Arnold; four grandchildren; and a special friend, Don Marshall of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Myrl Potter, and one brother, Bill Pruitt.
Services were conducted today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Randy McWilson of Jackson officiating.
Burial followed at the Bluff Cemetery near Idalia.
