"We're capable of playing pretty good defense," Delta head coach Randall White said. "And at times tonight I thought we played much better defense than we have been. We were more aggressive."
Clinging to a one-point lead after Chaffee's Jordan Pruitt connected on a 3-pointer with 3:22 left in the third quarter, Delta started to pull away during the final two minutes of the frame.
After Machela VanGennip and Tori Burton each hit a free throw, VanGennip ended the third with a 3-pointer before another shot from behind the arc pushed Delta ahead 31-22 with 6:50 to play.
Though one more bucket from Pruitt closed the Lady Devils back to within seven, a 7-0 run by Delta pushed the Lady Devils back 38-24 with 2:17 remaining.
Sealing the game, Macey Parks added one final basket while Delta went 4 of 4 from the free throw line in the game's final minute.
"Chaffee has a good little ball club and they hang tough," White said. "They have some good kids and a couple of good shooters on that team."
VanGennip and Burton scored 12 points each to lead the Lady Bobcats with Parks and Lyndse Hamby adding nine and eight respectively.
For Chaffee, Pruitt finished with a game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Adrienne Eichhorn had four points with Ellie sigman and Regina Seyer scoring three and two respectively.
