PHOENIX -- Melvin E. Happe, 89, died Jan. 11, 2012.
Born April 13, 1922, in Farrenburg, Mo., to the late Jake C. and Esther B. Happe, he was a veteran having served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Union Rock and Material prior to retirement.
On May 16, 1947, he married Eileen Sparks, who preceded him in death on March 13, 1998.
He was preceded in death by one brother, T.C. Happe; and three sisters, Sue Kenney, Bonnie Gereau and Wilma Dallas.
Survivors include: one son, Gregory Happe of Phoenix; four brothers, Billy Jake Happe of Winter Haven, Fla., Freddie L. Happe of Wappapello, Mo., Don Happe of Tulsa, Okla. and Dickie R. Happe of Sikeston, Mo.; six sisters, Annette Rizzo of Largo, Fla., Barbara Krebs of Wappapello, Mo., Joan Clark of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Judy Kaye Hoffmaster of Missoula, Mont., and Alice Happe and Betty Kelley of Sikeston.
A private burial service will be held at Veterans National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
Heritage Funeral Chapel of Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
