SIKESTON -- Thursday's snow may not have fallen in record amounts, but it did serve as a reminder for motorists to be prepared for any additional winter weather this season.

"We've had quite a few accidents today -- nothing serious though," Donna Ballard, 911 supervisor for Scott County, said Thursday afternoon.

Ballard said most were single-vehicle accidents, and most occurred in the middle section of Scott County on Highway 61, Interstate 55 and around Chaffee.

The best advice for driving in snow or icy conditions is to use caution and plan ahead, Ballard said. "Take it slow," she added.
