John R. Vines Sr.

DEXTER -- John Robert Vines Sr., 59, died Jan. 13, 2012, at his home.

Born Oct. 17, 1952, in Sikeston, son of the late Sam and Ilah Hays Vines, he was raised in Sikeston and had worked in banking beginning his career with Security Federal Savings and Loan in Malden. A long-time member of Rotary Club International and a member of the Father Slay Council of Knights of Columbus, he was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter.

On Oct. 18, 1980, he married Nancy S. Nelson who survives of Dexter.

Other survivors include: one son, John R. "Johnny" Vines Jr. of St. Louis; one daughter, Emily E. Vines of the home; two sisters, Janie Vines McPherson and Jeannie Vines Box of Sikeston; and two brothers, Jim Vines and Joey Vines of Sikeston.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with David Dohogne of Dexter officiating.

Interment will be in the Walker Cemetery in Bloomfield.
