CHARLESTON -- Dora Lee Adkisson, 78, died at 9 p.m. Jan. 12, 2012, in the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born Sept. 12, 1933, in East Prairie, to the late Earl and Ruth Stallings Brown, she lived all of her life in Mississippi County where she was a retired teacher having taught school in the East Prairie and Charleston school districts. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston.

On Dec. 23, 1952, in St. Louis, she married Ralph Adkisson who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: a son, David Adkisson of the home; and two sisters, Jane Everett of Hollidaysburg, Pa., and Lenora Lynch of Canton, Ill.

She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Martha Adkisson.

Visitation is scheduled from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie with Martin Lucas officiating.

Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery at Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Richard Haney, Max Carlyle, Richard Sutton, Harold Adkisson, David Adkisson and Leo Martin.
