METROPOLIS - Charleston used a swarming defense and an effective outside shooting game to take control in the second half and defeat Massac County, 74-55, in the championship game of the Superman Classic.
The Patriots never seriously challenged after the opening minutes of the second half.
Charleston's Gregory Tucker was simply too much for the Pats to handle. Tucker, who finished with 32 points, took charge in the first period.
Malcolm Amos had 13 points to lead Massac.
In the third-place game, Carbondale let a 12-point second-half lead slip away, but got some big plays down the stretch to defeat Paducah Tilghman, 66-58.
Tilghman took the lead at 53-51 when Cody Shultz connected on a 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter.
But Carbondale's Allen Billinger drove the lane, drew contact and hit a 5-foot floater.
He was fouled and hit the free throw to give the Terriers a lead they would not relinquish.
