SIKESTON -- Betty Jayne Taylor (Fears) Scott, 76, of Sikeston passed away Jan. 24, 2012, at her home.
She was born Sept. 17, 1935, at Stanford, to the late Joe and Lucille Taylor. Mrs. Scott was a 1953 graduate of Stanford High School where she was an outstanding basketball player. She remained an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren play. She loved to shop and spend time with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl "Bud" Fears, and twin daughters, Brenda Fay and Linda Kay Fears.
She is survived by: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Tommy and Mary Jane Fears of the state of Florida and Doug Fears of Oran; two daughters and one son-in-law, Pam Lara of the state of California and Paula and Darin Watkins of Oran; one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Harlan Greenway of Paragould, Ark.; 10 grandchildren, Seth (and Amanda) Fears, Ben Fears, Barbara Fears, Jordan Fears, Cole Fears, Abraham Lara, Bethany Lara, Joseph Lara, Caleb Watkins and Zachary Watkins; three great-grandchildren, James Fears, Olivia Fears and Alyssa Skotcher; and her special friends at Wendell Apartments.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at the Phillips Funeral Home in Paragould. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Darin Watkins officiating.
Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery.
