DEXTER -- Ruby Inez Curtis, 97, died Jan. 25, 2012, at Missouri Southern Healtcare in Dexter.
Born April 1, 1914, in Ouachita, Ark., to the late Lee and Laura Jones Walker, she was a retired worker for Inland Shoe Company in Parma and also helped her husband on the farm. She was of the Assembly of God belief.
In August 1935, at Portageville, she married Albert Leslie "Les" Curtis who preceded her in death on Sept. 14, 1976.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Albert Lee Curtis, one daughter, Carolyn Curtis Spring, one brother, Dewey Walker, two sisters, Alma Hirst and Frankie Neal, and two grandsons.
She is survived by: four sons, James Jay Curtis and Garry Curtis of Benton Harbor, Mich., Larry Curtis of Hartford, Mich., and Myles Curtis of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Sherry Jines of Dexter; three brothers, Fred Walker of Camden, Ark., Joe Walker of Riverbank, Calif., and Gene Walker of Franklin, N.C.; one sister, Esther Porterfield of Salem, Ore.; one niece who was raised in the home, Dorothy Jones Morin; and 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-5 p.m. Sunday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Martin Goode officiating.
Burial will follow in the Stanfield Cemetery.
