SIKESTON -- Ava Geraldine "Jerry" Harwell, 81, formerly of Kennett, departed this life on Jan. 26, 2012, at the Clearview Nursing Center.
Born Oct. 10, 1930, at Johnson's Island, daughter of the late Joseph Boram and Mary Jane Robinson Ford, she was a member of Southwestern Bell Pioneers and worked as a telephone operator for over 32 years. She was a member of Calvary Temple Church of Sikeston.
On Jan. 12, 1952, at Johnson's Island, she married Buddy Joe Harwell who preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1984.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers, Bufford Ford, Ovey Ford, J.B. Ford, Ernest Ford and Earmol Ford, and two sisters, Jewell Stafford and Pauline McMullin.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Michael Joe and Patti Harwell Sr. of Paragould, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila Dianne and Terry Brase of Sikeston; one sister: Irene Smith of Kennett; five grandchildren and their spouses, Jimmy and Leane Parrish of Marmaduke, Ark., Burt and Nicole Lee of Lafe, Ark., Michael J. Harwell Jr. of Paragould and Josh Brase and Ben Brase of Sikeston; nine great-grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica Lee, Laura Lee, Kara Lee, Dustin Parrish, Ethan Harwell, Abigail Harwell, Makenna Harwell and Lauren and Austin Brase; and other relatives and many friends.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett. Greg Forester, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.
Pallbearers will be: Josh Brase, Ben Brase, Eric Smith, Charles Isbel, Michael J. Harwell Jr. and Burt Lee.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Parrish and Randy Stafford.
