DESOTO -- Alene Laird Rice, 87, died Feb. 2, 2012, at the Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Crystal City.
Born May 1, 1924, in Kewanee, to the late Mary E. Sparks Gean, she had been a resident of Dexter for many years before moving to Fenton several years ago. She was a resident of DeSoto and a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sikeston.
She first married LeRoy R. Laird who preceded her in death in 1987. In 1988 she married Albert L. Rice who also preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were one brother, Logan Purcell, and one sister, Juanita Van Buren.
She is survived by six nieces.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until time of services at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with David Sparks of Poplar Bluff officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter.
