DEXTER -- George Thurston Watson, 84, died Feb. 3, 2012, at the Golden Living Center in Dexter.
Born Feb. 1, 1928, in Leachville, Ark., to the late George Eura and Ruth Stanley Watson, he was a member of the Bernie Church of Christ and served as an elder and treasurer for many years at the Parma Church of Christ. He worked for the ASCS office at Bloomfield and had been the Elk Township tax collector. He also farmed and raised hogs for many years.
On March 3, 1945, at Paragould, Ark., he married Joy Ione Byrd who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe and Sharlette Watson of Dexter and Marty Watson of Malden; one daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Mark Harrington of Lake Mary, Fla.; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Watson, three brothers, Acie Watson, Charlie Watson and Paul Watson, and three sisters, Ruth Watson, Dolly Plotts and Fannie Wiltshire.
Visitation is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday with Stan Dauck officiating.
Burial will follow in the Malden Memorial Park Cemetery.
