SIKESTON - Thanks to the generosity of Southeast Missourians senior citizens can continue to look forward to a hot meal at noontime, the Scott County Transit Service will keep on rolling and Girl Scout and Boy Scout will get some extra support.

The 2011-12 United Way campaign far and away surpassed its goal, this year bringing in a record-setting $110,901.82. That is 116 percent above the campaign's initial goal of $95,000, according to Glenna Shy, executive director of the Sikeston/Bootheel Area United Way.

"I don't think we have ever raised this much money," said Shy. "I've added it and added it and added it - It is just unreal!"
