Dexter drops key district contest to Notre Dame

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats lost a nailbiter to Notre Dame on Monday night as the Lady Bulldogs claimed a one-point victory at Notre Dame High School, 52-51.

Dexter's Hannah Noe hit a 3-pointer with 30 seconds remaining to tie the game at 51-51 and after the two teams exchanged turnovers, Notre Dame's Summer Burger was fouled with three seconds left. Burger hit one of two free throws and Dexter's last second 3-pointer was off the mark, giving the Lady Bulldogs a key district win.

Both Noe and Brittany Harris scored team highs of 17 points for Dexter.

Notre Dame was paced by Brooke Bohnert who scored 22 points. Burger added 18.

Dexter, who held a 28-27 lead going into the second half, fell behind 40-35 heading into the final eight minutes.

Dexter (18-4) will host Cape Central on Thursday.

Meadow Heights 57, Chaffee 34

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Lady Devils lost their fourth straight game on Monday falling to the visiting Meadow Heights Lady Panthers, 57-34.

The Lady Panthers took a huge lead after the first quarter, 30-6, that Chaffee (4-14) was never able to recover from.

Jordi Pruitt led Chaffee with 15 points.

The Lady Devils host Charleston tonight at 6 p.m.

SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Lady Rams took care of the Delta Lady Bobcats 45-35 on Monday at Scott City High School.

Katie Hogan led Scott City (13-7) with 13 points on three 3-pointers while Lyndsie Robert added 11.

Knocking down five 3-pointers, Myra Henson paced Delta (9-10) with 17 points.

JACKSON -- Breaking a modest two game winning streak, the East Prairie Lady Eagles fell to the Saxony Lutheran Lady Crusaders 59-26 on Monday in Jackson.

East Prairie (7-11) had just two players score on the night. Caitlyn Harwell led the Lady Eagles with 14 points while Rebekah Douglas scored the remaining 12.

POPLAR BLUFF -- Poplar Bluff scored the first 10 points of the game Monday night and shot 53 percent from the field to beat the Lady Eagles.

Karen McGloson scored 19 to lead Central (14-8) while Benesha Childress added 14 but had just one first-half field goal. The Eagles were without two players due to illness, Dallas Campbell and Whiteny Williams.

The Eagles didn't get on the board until McGloson's basket at the 3:40 mark and Central put together a 6-1 run.

Poplar Bluff led 15-6 heading into the second quarter when the Lady Mules scored 12 straight points.

The Lady Mules ended the half on a 12-2 run over the final 3:29 as they forced four turnovers and didn't give up a field goal.

Poplar Bluff led by as many as 39 in the second half before Central ended the game on a 14-5 swing.
