SIKESTON -- Proponents of rezoning Sikeston's "northern corridor" for offices say it's all about aesthetics. Opponents to the change -- who also happen to own undeveloped property there -- say the city should stick to its original plan.
Both sides of the issue were presented to the Sikeston City Council during its regular monthly meeting Monday.
The discussion is related to a bill read for the first time Monday which would change zoning on approximately 30 acres along Highway 61 North from highway commercial to office.
Trey Hardy, community redevelopment coordinator for the city, described the area in question as being "all well south of" the intersection of State Highways ZZ and HH with Highway 61.
