CHARLESTON -- Frances Shelby Brewer, 94, died Feb. 10, 2011, at her home.
Born Feb. 23, 1917, to the late George U. and Waneta Martin Shelby, she had lived her entire life in Charleston where she was a member of the United Methodist Church, Junior Study Club, Molly French Garden Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO Chapter CV and the Eastern Star. She attended one year of college at Ward Belmont (now Belmont University) in Nashville, Tenn.
On June 21, 1936, she married Benjamin Grinstead Brewer who preceded her in death on May 18, 1989.
Also preceding her in death were one brother George U. Shelby Jr., and two sisters, Evelyn Lowrey and Mayme Dernoncourt.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Dave and Virginia Brewer of Charleston, Dr. Nelson and Karol Anne Brewer of Eatonton, Ga., and Bill and Janice Brewer of East Prairie; two daughters and a son-in-law, Francie Brunt of Atlanta, Ga., and Helen and Mike Miltenberger of Danville, Iowa; one sister, Nancy Thurmond of Charleston; and 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m until time of services at 11 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston. Dan Faust, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
