Dexter, Kelly girls earn conference wins

DEXTER -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats earned their 20th win of the season, downing the always-tough Poplar Bluff Lady Mules 70-59 on Tuesday.

Dexter jumped out to a 16-8 lead in the first quarter and led 30-20 at the half, keeping the Lady Mules at bay the second half.

Brittany Harris had 23 points to lead Dexter (20-4) while Mollie Whitehead added 14. Paige Patterson and Erika Cobb each scored 10 points apiece.

SIKESTON -- The Kelly Lady Hawks won an overtime thriller on Tuesday, defeating Scott County Central 74-71 on the road.

The game was close the entire way with the Bravettes holding a 32-27 lead at halftime and 51-46 lead after three quarters before Kelly stormed back and tied the game at 64-64 at the end of regulation.

The Lady Hawks then outscored Scott Central 10-7 in overtime to earn the win.

Bridgett Chandler led Kelly with 24 points while Logan Ivie added 22 points.

Scott Central's Johviqua Fort led all scorers with 28 points while Mikaela Blissett and Derhien Ditto added 16 and 12 points respectively.

DEXTER -- The Dexter Bearcats struggled finding the basket on Tuesday night and dropped a SEMO Conference game to the Poplar Bluff Mules 52-28.

Dexter (13-11) managed only nine points in the first half and trailed 21-9 at the break and continued to struggle in the second half.

Seniors Jake Lee and Tyler Miller led Dexter with 11 and 10 points respectively.

BERNIE -- The Bernie Mules easily dispatched the visiting Richland Rebels 64-34 on Tuesday night.

Bernie got 22 points from Troy Kirkpatrick while B.J. Jennings added 12.

"We played hard tonight," said Bernie coach Brad Botsch. "I think we tried to do what we've been working on, especially in the second half. Our defensive focus was better and we rebounded better than we had been."

Jesse Barnes led Richland (3-15) with 12 points while Richard Forshee added 10.

EAST PRAIRIE -- The Malden Green Wave spoiled Senior Night at East Prairie, defeating the Eagles 82-60 on Tuesday.

The game was tied 16-16 after one and East Prairie held a slim 19-16 lead early in the second before Malden began to pull away.

Senior Logan Staggs led East Prairie with 16 points while fellow seniors Devin Cook and Shawn King added 13 and 11 respectively.

Malik Perkins and Romello McCoy led Malden with 18 points apiece. Johsha Robinson added 17 and Cortez Dobbins 16.
