NMCC runs past South Pemiscot

STEELE -- The New Madrid County Central girls basketball team improved to 15-8 on the season with an 83-52 road win over South Pemiscot on Monday.

Juniors Benesha Childress and Karen McGloson combined for 62 points with Childress marking 32 and McGloson 30. McGloson needs just 17 points to reach 1,000 for her career. Childress reached the 1,000 point mark earlier this season.

Karie Shephard scored 22 to lead South Pemiscot.

NMCC will be back in action today when they host Kennett at 5 p.m.

Woodland 60, Chaffee 33

MARBLE HILL -- Josie Long netted 18 points for the Cardinals in the win at home.

Kendra Pinkley added 14 points and 12 rebounds for Woodland (15-6). Kathlyn Cooper sank 10 points for the Cardinals while teammate Lindsay Shell grabbed 12 rebounds.

Adrienne Eichhorn paced the Red Devils with 13 points including three 3-pointers.

Woodland will host its senior night Thursday against Charleston.

Maplewood Richmond Heights 89, Scott Central 65

MAPLEWOOD -- The Scott County Central Braves fell into an early hole on Saturday against Maplewood Richmond Heights which eventually led to an 89-65 loss.

The Braves committed 36 turnovers and forced just four steals.

The Blue Devils' Aaron Spudich and Kahlid Hagens blistered the Braves for 27 and 25 points respectively.

Dominique Porter paced Scott Central with 25 points while LaMarcus Steward and Jaylen Porter scored 13. Larandis Banks added 10.

Scott Central is now 14-9 and will play the Kennett Indians in their final game of the regular season tonight at Kennett High School.
