COLUMBIA -- Sikeston's Blake Angle and Dexter's Cody Stevens both ended stellar careers on Saturday finishing sixth in state in their respective classes.

Angle, wrestling in the 120-pound division in Class 3, lost in the fourth round wrestleback to Kearney's Seth Brayfield on Saturday. Brayfield, entering the match with a record of 54-4, pinned Angle at 3:38 to send Angle to the fifth place match.

In the fifth place match, the Sikeston senior took on Jonathan Melton of Staley. Angle defeated Melton on Friday in an exciting quarterfinal match using a late takedown in the third period to win 3-2. Angle wasn't as fortunate on Saturday, as Melton won a 6-2 decision.

Angle leaves a mark at Sikeston, posting over 150 career wins in his four-year career. Angle finishes his senior season with a record of 43-11.

Stevens, wrestling in the 160-pound division in Class 2, lost a heartbreaking overtime match 2-1 to Monterio Burton of Mexico in the fourth round wrestlebacks. Stevens then lost a major decision 12-3 to Zac Hoover of Grain Valley to finish with a season record of 33-5.
